The pasture burning ritual in the Flint Hills takes place each Spring. After a sunset shoot, we spotted a large red glow. As we neared Chase State Fishing Lake, the fire appeared to be quite near it. I pulled in and drove to the west end of the lake. The fire looked like it was going to crest the hill on the southwest and west sides, if we just waited long enough. We did and it did. Serendipity was with us, because the moon started peaking over the horizon shortly before 11:00PM.
