It is believed that this festival began during the 16th and 17th centuries. This summer, I studied abroad in France for six weeks in Aix-en-Provence. I went to Paris for my last weekend in France, and visited the palace of Versailles. I love French history and anything having to do with Marie-Antoinette, and was thrilled to visit Versailles for the second time. I took dozens of pictures of Versailles, and I love this one above all others because it includes the palace and its famous, gorgeous gardens.

Bay of Pigs Cuba Yes, I went there legally in 2012 with a small group from all over the USA. How I got there…KC/Miami/Havana, the program was put together by the Dept. of the Treasury and the Cuban Govt. Bay of Pigs, on the coast of southern Cuba is a beautiful site unlike the image of a ‘war torn’ beach during the Cuban Revolution. Wild pigs were slaughtered there to feed Spanish sailors, thus the name. Hemingway’s life on the island remains vivid to the locals.
